Ichigo, Rukia and Orihime, after a long day of being coerced into doing Urahara Kisuke's bidding, lay down on the grass to rest and simply stare at the stars. Kisuke later joined them to thank them for being so hardworking (albeit unwilling). Even Ichigo was too tired to make a retort, and the four silently took in the night air and watched on as a meteor shower started above them. The sight of falling stars had all of them lost in their own thoughts.

Ichigo thought of his mother, and how he promised himself he would get stronger to protect the rest of his family, and everyone else he cared for. Rukia caught a glimpse of Ichigo's determined smile before looking back at the inky blackness, as the face of a man from her past swam in her memory. After a moment of pain came hope. Orihime smiled up at the sky, believing that her older brother was sending those stars down for her. She leaned a little towards Ichigo, the person she had to thank for saving her brother's soul. Kisuke simply smiled and closed his eyes, his thoughts a mystery to everyone but himself.
