When we were little, Makoto had two pet goldfish. They were given to him by an old fisherman whom he befriended.
One summer, Makoto lost this friend due to a big storm that sank the fisherman’s boat. Some time after, Makoto found his goldfish lifeless in their bowl despite his best efforts.
This probably hit him harder than it would others because of his role as an eldest brother, and as someone who is used to taking care of other people — myself included.
We’re in high school now, but he still makes time to put out flowers for the grave he made for his goldfish.
Makoto smiles for everyone and is always ready to lend a hand, but-
Even though he wouldn’t ask for it, I’m certain he needs someone to support him too sometimes.
I’m sorry, Makoto.
I’m not good with words, but I hope I can make you understand that you don’t have to handle everything alone.

Not that there's anything wrong with that hahah, but all we were expecting was to be able to laugh at how exploitable and full of fanservice this show could be because swimming would require everyone to be half-naked. Although it started out that way, the more episodes we watched, the more we realized...
We were wrong. So wrong.
What we got was a heartwarming coming-of-age story with endearing characters and interesting dynamics. It spoke of friendship and learning your self-worth and figuring out what drives you forward.
