Pirates of the Caribbean: Distant Shores

Description

These costumes of ours have tasted seawater from yet another distant land! The last time we wore these for a location shoot, we were at the Lapu-Lapu Shrine in Mactan, during the time we flew to Cebu. This time we were on distant shores again, someplace with a very similar feel to the location of the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, On Stranger Tides.

Here is a scenic teaser shot to start things off. I miss the smell of the ocean and the sensation of sand crunching under my boots.

:bulletred: About the cosplay:
Here's me and Miguel in the costumes where we are least recognizable! HAHAHA

But yeahhh, I cosplayed Angelica (a.k.a that Spanish chick in the 4th movie to some of you). Hahaha! I know I look nothing like Penelope Cruz, but Miguel really wanted me to join him in PotC cosplay. I had originally wanted to be Will Turner, but Miguel wanted to do the 4th movie version of Jack, and Will is no longer there. But hey, I've never attempted anyone like Angelica, I enjoyed the fourth movie and liked her costume design (we love Penny Rose) so I was like, YOU KNOW WHAT, LET'S DO IT. I SHALL BE A SPANISH PIRATE LADY THING JUST FOR YOU.

Our previous Pirates of the Caribbean photos, in which Miguel was wearing the older versions of his costume:

Apart from notes about putting the costumes together, there are stories in the descriptions for both of them. It's always such an adventure with these characters!

A closer look at our costume details soon! Stay with me, me hearties!

Oh, and if I may I interest you in my latest journal post about skincare, which is something I often get asked about:
Before Cosplay Makeup: Basic Skincare! Before I write about cosplay makeup, I figured I should discuss some skincare basics. I feel it's important to know how to take care of your skin before you start putting gunk on it! This is really very basic so I think those of you with your own regimens already might be bored by it! But here it goes! I'm not an awesome guru wizard thing, but I'll just share some general concepts and products that work for me. It's different for everybody, but I hope this will be helpful! For your sreference, my skin type is combination: normal to dry with an oily nose. Hahah! Not my T-zone, just my nose! Recently, my male friends had gottenre very interested in makeup for cosplay and asked me for tips on how to go about it. (I think this was fueled by Kaname's visit to our country for Cosplay Mania '12, and they saw how beautiful he looks.) I decided to ask them about their skincare regimen to figure out what products might work for their skin type. When I asked what they wash t

Pirates of the Caribbean, marginally based on the exhibit by the same name, was only rudimentarily sensible in the FIRST movie. After that...

The Pirates of the Caribbean was the ONLY time I went down a water filled roller coaster .
