It was great doing location shoots again! When I first saw this beach, I instantly thought of Pirates of the Caribbean so I knew I had to drag me hearties over and have a shoot there with them. We got some great shots of their Legend of Korra and Soul Calibur cosplays as well! And then we got some excellent bonding time by the shore at night. Good times :D

Here's me and Miguel in our costumes where we are least recognizable! Our own friends get a little disoriented whenever we wear these out, hahah!

As I've said before:
So yeahhh, I cosplayed Angelica (a.k.a that Spanish chick in the 4th movie to some of you). Hahaha! I know I look nothing like Penelope Cruz, but Miguel really wanted me to join him in PotC cosplay. I had originally wanted to be Will Turner, but Miguel wanted to do the 4th movie version of Jack, and Will is no longer there. But hey, I've never attempted anyone like Angelica, I enjoyed the fourth movie, and liked her costume design (we love Penny Rose) so I was like, YOU KNOW WHAT, LET'S DO IT. I SHALL BE A SPANISH PIRATE LADY THING JUST FOR YOU. Talk about going out of my comfort zone.

:bulletred: Notes on the costume:
This photo offers a better view of our costume details so I'll write down a bit about it!

One of the things that really made us look different from our normal selves was the makeup. We have relatively fair skin so it was fun toning ourselves to look tanned and sunburnt. After a lot of research, I concluded we should try out Ben Nye cake foundation. It was excellent — looked natural, didn't feel heavy, and lasted the whole day and into the night. It also didn't rub off on our grimy but light-colored shirts too much, which is very good.

We also don't usually do such heavy eye makeup, but kohl-lined (or rather, smudged haphazardly) eyes seems to be a requirement for these pirates!

I helped out however I could, but it was really Miguel who did most of the work gathering the right materials for our costumes. He participates in PotC costuming communities so he was able to find sources for fabrics, belt buckles, and other little details like my vest and corset trim so that we could get as close to screen-accurate as we could manage.

After looking for the materials, Miguel put a lot of it together. He made some of the dreadlocks. He arranged and sewed the dreads into a Jack wig by himself, along with putting on all that stuff dangling on his head, some of which he had sculpted himself.

My wig on the other hand, just needed to be tossed about a bit after being purchased. Hahah!

Miguel also distressed and dyed the cloth parts like his bandana, sash, shirt and boots so that it'd look weathered as if it belonged to a real pirate. (And it's not too visible in this photo but together we somehow put together a leather corset for me.)

Here are some of the people we'd like to thank:
- Richard Maldonado a.k.a. ACME for Jack's vest, belt buckles, sash, and tricorn, as well as Angelica's baldric
- Charlotte for Angelica's vest fabric
- Paulette for the Jack and Angelica shirts
- Bryan Moore for Jack's compass
- Brian Baxton for Jack's wrist wrap
- Nick Quelou and Jimmar Bermudo Zarriz for some of the human hair dreads
- Tyrannical Piratical Treasures and Swag Arts for a lot of miscellaneous items
- AC Hernandez for Jack's sword (held by Angelica in the photo)

It's kind of funny comparing some of the tandem cosplays that Miguel :iconmerkymerx: and I have done

Naruto and Sasuke (Naruto)

Light and L (Death Note)

Saito and Okita (Hakuouki)

Harry and Ron (Harry Potter)

And now...

Jack and Angelica (Pirates of the Caribbean)

We have done something more surprising than this but I'll leave that for another day. :fuzzydemon:
