One of the moments in Rurouni Kenshin that most gripped my heart and broke it into an endless number of microscopic particles was when Kenshin bid Kaoru farewell. Gah, I have such an extremely weak spot for goodbyes. I think it's my second favorite scene in the anime (the first being Kenshin's fight with Saitou). It was beautifully animated, with excellent scoring. You may watch that part here, if you wish [link]
This photo is our take on Kenshin's departure. It's not meant to be completely true to the original, primarily because the scene was set during nighttime and it would have been extremely difficult for us to shoot that correctly given the equipment we had at hand. The actual pose also made it hard for both faces to be visible in one frame, so we took liberties with that as well. We made the most of what we had, including the awesome sunset we were blessed with that day. While it is undeniably different, we hope that the emotion still shows through somehow.
Thank you guys for reading, and for reassuring us at Rurouni Kenshin lives on in the hearts of many. My apologies to those who said that this photo made them cry. I offer you our photoshoot outtakes to cheer you up: [link]
Its so beautiful! But so sad! I remember I watched that part in the anime and got all depressed and lonely, which made me really angry. And I'm a violent person so I took it out on my wooden bed frame, the usual victim of my wrath. You could still see the dents made by my knuckles.
this part made me bawl my eyes out as well
