Here's a preview from my final project for school - a revisualization of Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince) by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry into an illustrated narrative, utilizing photomanipulations as visual elements to compliment the original illustrations. It started from a cosplay photoshoot suggestion about a year ago by ~joeynfulleffect, an idea that I expanded into this. (I am forever in your debt, Joey. :)) That book means more to me than I can ever put into words, so I really poured my heart out into that project.

We've ventured into studio photography. We shot in our new second home, Indios Bravos, guided by two amazing photographers - Darell Pobre and Niccolo Cosme. What an incredible learning experience it's been so far! We can't wait to try out the new knowledge on our other cosplay shoots! Of course we won't give up our on-location photos, but you can definitely expect more studio stuff from us. :D The possibilities are endless! We first decided to dabble in studio photography out of necessity for this project, but we've grown to love it and regret not experimenting with it sooner!

Anyway, back to The Little Prince... This is the cover of the book, hence the text. I published a single copy for my presentation at school. Some of the locations in the story are really rather strange (like little planets with single occupants) so I chose to make the feel of the photomanips far from realistic, even throwing in some drawn elements every now and then. We took some liberties with the interpretation of the characters, though of course not all of them are pictured here. What you might notice is that instead of the disheveled, spiky hair of the prince in the illustrations, we opted for a longer, more tidy haircut for a slightly more regal look.

Perhaps I'll share a few more images from the series, but I won't upload most of them online. My class will be having an exhibit of our works at The Podium, from the 24th to the 28th of March. I'll have the book there on display, and put up some large prints in the gallery as well. I'll update you guys with more exhibit details when I get them. :)
