Updated on August 19: OH SHI- MatrixShino delivers! There seem to be a significant number of you who wanted to see us act like idiots, so I'm updating this post with the video.
Hare Hare Yukai at Negai wa KanauHere it is! About a minute into the video, you see China shoved into the front by Jewel, but she immediately runs back. Then at 1:26 I get pushed in with her, and we look at each other and agree to GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE. Jewel overrules our objection! She shoves me right back with China, and Kat as well. Clearly, there is no hope for us so we give in and agree to make fools of ourselves. At 1:52, Jewel tries to get Miguel to join us, but he manages to escape. I must admit, it turned out to be a lot of fun. I guess misplacing one's dignity has its benefits after all.
Negai wa Kanau
Yesterday we went to PNU-NAMI's Negai wa Kanau: Celebrating Tanabata the Filipino Way. We had such a good time! Even though it was a relatively small school event, the atmosphere was cheery and we did feel like we were at a festival. Congratulations, NAMI! You did a great job for your first event. 
If you would allow me to offer a bit of advice that you may want to take into account for next year's event, well... Perhaps you could give it a shorter, simpler, catchier name. People who don't really speak Nihongo (including myself) may have a hard time remembering what it's called. 
There was also a bit of confusion because other people called it NAMI Wave Party.
It would also be good to have a little more organization for things like computing and tallying the scores for the cosplay competition. And you may want to confirm with the judges before announcing the winners. 
If you had read my previous update about upcoming conventions, I mentioned that Kat and I would be judging the cosplay competition. China ended up joining us in the judges panel. It was a real honor and a lot of fun being given that chance. There was one particular cosplayer who blew us away. We unanimously decided to give her perfect scores for all the criteria. That may sound like a bit much, but she really deserved it. Much to our surprise and despair, when they announced the winners, she didn't place at all. There wasn't much we could do after the announcement, but we did talk to the organizers and managed to approach that cosplayer before she left. She seemed happy just to hear from us, but we still can't help feeling like we failed somebody. 
That aside, it was a really fun day. NAMI members, we're sorry we arrived later than expected. 
We had a few accidents while dressing up (superglue is our weakness), and we couldn't help the traffic. But once we arrived at the venue, Kim accompanied us from the entrance and we ran to the gym where the con was being held.

Okay, so I guess now is a good time to clue you guys in on our new convention game: We try to ruin as many pictures as we can by doing stupid poses in the background. HAHAHAHA. Oh, I forgot about introductions. Well, here I am as Naruto based on the
Broken Youth ending, but a little modified because I wanted to look a bit more formal for the event. People might not take me seriously if I looked like a bandaged ruffian in a robe, so I put some pants on.
Oh, and the sword is actually my sakabatou for Kenshin. Naruto with a reverse-edged blade... sounds like he'll end up inflicting more damage to himself than his opponent, haha.

When the festivities were over, we went outside for some fresh air before we left campus grounds. Other cosplayers were hanging out on the field, taking pictures. It was nice just seeing everybody having fun. There were some who called out to say hi, but I was a little shy about approaching them.
Ysabel and I walked to an edge of the field where we saw some white flowers, and I took some pictures of her with them.
A little while after, we all went out together to - you guessed it - EAT. It's something we always enjoy doing, especially when we're all together. We went to this place in Greenbelt 5 that serves some pretty odd dishes. Fried froglegs, ostrich meat, wild boar tapa (which was good, by the way), and many other possibly stranger things that I can't recall right now. They had some relatively normal food though, like the chicken fingers
which I am craving for again right now.
