The wind was insane, and we were constantly pelted by lake water. We couldn't take a lot of photos because the moisture was dangerous for the cameras. We were pretty wet by the time we got to the dock, haha.
Going up the mountain, we rode horses for a while so we wouldn't get exhausted. El rode on a white/grey horse named Patricia, while I got a brown horse named Bruno.

I was really happy just to be behind the camera again, especially during sunset when the sky exploded into all sorts of colors. Here are some of the other shots I took but did not submit into my gallery, because wasn't completely satisfied with due to my own shortcomings as a photographer.

Cosplay Mania 2008

Congratulations to the Cosmania team for a successful event! It certainly was crowded, but that goes to show how much our little cosplay community is growing. I'm already looking forward to Cosmania 2009!
Cosmania certainly was a learning experience for me and my friends, since we were panelists, exhibitors and judges all in one event. It was a lesson on organization and preparation - we need to learn how to be better at these things, hahaha. Practically the whole week before Cosmania, we were running around getting things done for our merchandise table during the day, and staying up until unholy hours of the night fixing up our presentation for the cosplay seminar. To add to the stress, our original cosplay plan for that day didn't push through for reasons we could not do anything about.
We barely got any sleep during the two days right before the con, so I really felt rather ugly and haggard, and wished I could ninja away every time someone asked for a photo. 
Still, I'm thankful our backup plan to do Code Geass characters Ashford uniforms managed to push through.

Since we were to do a panel presentation together, we thought it'd be nice if we could do a group cosplay. Here we are as Ashford students (posing with the new Knightmare prototype, Gurren ...Lagann)

On a random note, part of what made my Suzaku attempt pretty interesting for me was tinting my face darker than my normal skin color. Suzaku looks a bit tan compared to the other characters, and I'm relatively light-skinned. I felt like I was painting myself with that liquid foundation. Pretty weird. It made me remember why I do my best not to get tanned when I have to go to the beach. It doesn't really suit me, haha.We had no time for breakfast on the morning of Cosmania, so after getting dressed, we just rushed off to the con venue. After barely setting up the table, it was time for the seminar. So on empty stomachs and barely any sleep, we went to give our cosplay talk. China and I made an agreement that if we start getting delirious and talking crazy, we'd tackle each other or something.

After our talk, Mark gave us our lunch (there was much jubilation on our part) and we had a little picnic in the corner of the seminar room. Soon after that, we had to rush off to judge the cosplay competition.

Much amusement was had.
Judging for the cosplay competition was really enjoyable. It helped a lot that each member of the judges panel were only made to focus on one criteria each, because it's pretty hard to observe how accurate a costume is while simultaneously rating the cosplayer's performance, audience impact, etc. There were a lot of awesome entries, but I don't know if the cosplayers would mind me posting their pictures on my journal so I'll limit the number of photos for now. (If you guys want me to take your pictures down, please tell me!)

I really love you guys.
Again, our thanks to everyone who attended our panel and dropped by our table. It was fun meeting people and taking pictures (though I felt hideous that day, haha). I'm especially grateful to the people who came by to tell us personally how our work has touched them in some way. I regret how my brain was lagging so badly from lack of sleep that I failed to ask some of them for their names and give them a hug for being so sweet. Cosmania left our energy levels almost empty, but filled us with great memories.

The red pigmentation around the eyes kind of reminded me of my Rokudaime Naruto concept from a while back, and it just made me happy. Let's hope he gets a new outfit soon.

Right now, I think I need to recharge my lazers myself in preparation for another busy week. At least Halloween is coming up! I'm really looking forward to just taking a break and spending time with my friends. I haven't even had time to write about their surprise birthday party for me. It's barely been a week but I miss everyone already. I really don't know what I'd do without them.
