So I've heard of this film for a long while, but never got to watch it for lack of a proper subbed copy/DVD release. (There was that Korean dubbed one that some people watched online, but Naruto has my favorite Japanese voice acting so I didn't want to watch it any other way!)

Sometime last month, some happy news reached our shores — Road to Ninja would be showing at our local cinemas!! I know it's been a while since its first release but I'm glad I waited before resorting to well, less legal ways of watching it! Hahah! Here is a stupid rap I wrote and slapped on a manga panel:

Would Killer Bee be proud of me? HAHAH

Premiere Night!

I had the honor of being invited to the special advanced screening at Director's Club before it hit the cinemas! Major thanks to Ica and Movie Punch for having us over!

I dressed up as Minato (the Fourth Hokage) and Marien dressed up as Tsunade (the Fifth Hokage) for the premiere.

We definitely got the Hokage treatment!

These seats are intensely comfortable, and seats were very limited so we could enjoy the private viewing

Here I am being a proud stage dad, waiting to watch son's movie!

Ica is performing... Kawaii no Jutsu?

Road to Ninja shirts from Sir Sam!

More premiere night photos on Ica's blog post!

Upon getting home, I tried on my new shirt and prepared a different outfit to watch the movie for the second time, with more of my friends on the following afternoon!

First Regular Screening Day!

On the way to Megamall! (It's hard to take non-blurry photos while the car is moving)

Aha!

Obligatory pictures in front of the giant poster! (Dear SM Cinema, may I keep one when it's done? Hahaha!) Look at my father Minato, always behind me.

I dressed up as Naruto this time, so I could be a butt and tell people "Thank you for watching my movie!" Miguel :iconmerkymerx: dressed up as Sasuke, and Charmie yaoiangel14 as Hinata — their alternate versions in the movie, that is!

Please send me a photo if you're one of the people who took pictures with us while we were here! :D

NINJAS VS. PIRATES LOL
We're not hating on One Piece, this just seemed like an appropriate pose for a bunch of ninjas in front of the One Piece movie poster, hahah!

Took some photos after most people left after the movie. (It was a full house!) We stayed behind because we needed to compose ourselves after all the crying hahaha! I was like, "Are my whiskers still here?"

Super Bushy Brows Sensei dynamic entry!
STOP GIVING ME FLOWERS, CHARASUKE

Appropriate craving for the day. Miso chashu ramen.

Snacktime with AU friends after the movie! Eating the naruto from my ramen!
ORE GA MENMA JA NAI

Now with Swagsuke, with appropriate sparkles
The fishcake I'm eating looks like my mouth hahah

Noodleyface photo

Uh-oh

Some of my friends who watched with me <3 There were a dozen of us (including the others not in this shot) and we took up the entire center front row of the balcony in the cinema, hahah!

Naruto. Naruto everywhere.

I can do that too, Iron Man!

This is why I never get an outfit change.
Meanwhile, after every major fight, Sasuke gets a new costume.
/pouts at Mr. Kishimoto
(But nah, hahah my costume didn't come from here!)

Went to the toy store and posed with my younger self!

With friendssss!

After we took these shots, a bunch of kids wanted to get pictures with me too. So sweet, hahah. There was a bit of a commotion but I don't think the Toy Kingdom people minded much!

Great way to end the day before we left to chill at one of our secret hideouts!

That's two Naruto characters I've cosplayed again this week. One more to go for next Sunday at Ozine Fest! (It's not Deidara yet!)

Non-Spoiler Impressions of Road to Ninja

I haven't seen all of the other Naruto movies, because the few I had watched just felt like long filler episodes with random foreign characters unrelated to the main story. This was different!

What initially drew me into this movie was that Minato and Kushina, Naruto's father and mother, were on the poster! I adore those two and always want to see more of them, so just the fact that they would be appearing in this installment was enough reason for me to watch it!

I appreciated that this film is something that could fit into the canon timeline of events. Maybe not in an entirely perfect way, but it is a welcome addition to me.

The best part of the film actually wasn't the main plot or the final battle with the main villain. It was all the little moments and the exploration of things that could have been, which really hit me right in the feelings. If you are able to come home to place with a warm meal and something more than the hum of electricity to greet you, you may learn to appreciate it more.

This film had us crying at one moment, and laughing hysterically a minute after, and then crying again. It was a rollercoaster of emotions which ultimately brought our favorite characters closer to our hearts.

It was fantastic getting to watch this on the big screen, and surrounded by my friends. We could react together, along with the entire cinema who cheered and laughed (and sniffled) with us! I always enjoy observing how people respond to certain scenes, like how fangirl squeals erupted when Sasuke appeared on screen  And the reactions when the Akatsuki get involved in a most unexpected way!

For those of you in the Philippines, you can catch Road to Ninja in SM Cinemas! Check this page to check schedules at your local theater! :pointr: smcinema.com/smcinema/index.ph…

So yeah, I loved the movie! My only wish is that we could have seen more of their classmates, hahah! Definitely getting a copy when the DVD comes out!
