ToyCon 2009 Report
Last Saturday was the first day of the Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention 2009. ToyCon was the first con we started going to regularly, so it's kind of been a tradition among us friends to attend.
Kat ~moonlightflight, China !snowpeachdrop, Miguel ~merkymerx, Ysabel and I wore our Rurouni Kenshin costumes, and we were all very happy that JM ~angrylittleboy was able to come hang out with us. He's our favorite Saitou. 
Charmie ~yaoiangel14 showed her love for Macross in the new Sheryl Nome outfit she made. I think it's my favorite of all her work. 
Dom ~Weakman, Rayson ~sinag-araw and EJ ~Dinkyass were in crack cosplay again, as you will see better later on.

We finally did make it to the convention venue by late afternoon, but the entrance looked far too crowded. Ran into Lowell ~
kuro-inu and he said that if we were to go in there, to "abandon all hope". It seems he was right. So we just loitered around outside to look for friends. We ended up goofing around, posing for pictures (and photobombing), meeting new people and playing "how low can you go?" with Kat's long, long braid.

Ms. Sheryl Nome with Misao. I admire every aspect of this costume of Charmie's. You can tell that there was a lot of love and care put in this cosplay - from the selection of roses for her hair, down to the velvet ribbon accents. All that effort because she really loves Macross.

It was highly entertaining just watching these two. They'd dance through the mall hallways together and bob their heads and sway to a beat only they can hear while on the elevator.

I think the foodcourt hangout was my favorite part of the day.
1. We had to drag and put together 5 tables so we'd all fit.
2. We got some funny looks while lining up to order pizza at Greenwich. Some people approached us in front of the counter to ask for pictures. Got photobombed by the Greenwich staff.
3. We got ninja attacked by Ate Jewel as we were about to bring our food to the table, and she and Kuya Robert and several other CosPH people joined us by our table. We practically had a mini-convention down there. It was nice just hanging out and catching up and shooting goofy videos and photos.
4. Pizzaaaaaaa! Man's greatest creation. And SISIG HOORAY.

6. Just being with everyone again. And in a relatively relaxed atmosphere with yummy food.
Sadly, Tza had to leave kind of early and wasn't able to join us when we decided to head up to the convention proper. Went we went back up, it looked like most of the crowd had already cleared out so we got tickets and went in to check out the toys. It was ToyCon, after all.
The booths were pretty impressive! Seemed like they were bigger and better than last year. Saw the Fraulein Revoltech Yoko Movie Ver. but passed on it for now. Miguel was very happy to find Gatchaman DVDs. China got some miniature cars, including a little Batmobile. Hero TV still had the somewhat life-sized Voltes V team and that Naruto figure that we
are always compelled to molest and defile. It's turned into a tradition we have celebrated for perhaps more than two years now.

EJ was very eager to shamelessly express his happiness that Miguel is back from his trip. Ahh, bromance!
We had a whole lot of fun posing for Wilson because he was more than happy to direct.
We could tell he loved Rurouni Kenshin about as much as we do, and that he's one of the people who earnestly loves the hobby. On a funny side note, Miguel was on the verge of imploding since he's a huge fan of Wilson's work for Battle of the Planets, and I had to shove him in front of Wilson to get him to talk.

One more group shot to wrap things up.
It was a fairly relaxed con experience - a refreshing change from when we foolishly storm in while the crowd is at its wildest. And unlike
last year's ToyCon</strike> (when despite having an insanely awesome day, we missed an awful lot) this time we actually got to go around the booths and we avoided nearly collapsing from hunger. We left when we were nearly falling asleep on our feet. It was a good kind of fatigue though, because we had spent the day doing what we enjoyed, and we did it together.
The next day, I woke up at 5 in the afternoon.

Lots of changes and learning and new things. In a very good way. Days never seem long enough, though.
Had some beautiful rainy weather a few weeks back. Lots of rain. Here are some pictures I took after having dinner at the gazebo one night, on the walkway leading back to our main house. It was a chilly, wet night. Rain dripped through the vines that grew around the passageway. Their roots hung down like hair and would cling to my umbrella. Made the short walk a little creepy, but also slightly surreal. I was thankful for the lantern light.
`anmari has been spreading her infectious positivity throughout our community for over 6 years. Throughout this time Ana has been at the core of all things devious, passionately developing an eclectic gallery, helping organise devmeets, participating in chat events and also recently completed dedicating her time as a Community Volunteer.
