With a title like Big Hero 6, people usually don't expect the movie to have such a strong emotional side to it. Here's a post-Christmas BH6 post, brought to you by the song Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, which always makes any day feel aNYTHING BUT MERRY. "Through the years / We all will be together / If the Fates allow" That third line always gets to me.

At least I waited until after most of the holiday festivities to share this. Happier photos to follow, I promise!

I imagine that even if Hiro acts tough about them losing their mom and dad when he was three years old, it still messes him up sometimes how much he can miss them with hardly any clear memories. Hiro usually isn’t into physical reassurance, but he won’t refuse during times he really needs to be comforted. Christmas time is always especially diificult, but Tadashi does his best to be there for his little brother.

I only saw this movie once, just recently, and while I would like to watch it again soon, I feel like I'm not emotionally ready to deal with Tadashi's death all over again. Throughout the whole movie I kept expecting him to come back, reasoning that since we didn't actually see him die, he might have somehow survived, just like Callaghan. Not to mention the whole portal thing and the fact that Maymax kept saying "Tadashi is here."

Looking at this picture threatens to bring tears to my eyes. It's too beautiful and sad for words.
