I usually do some sort of holiday-themed cosplay photo around Christmas, and this chilly weather made me feel like trying out Jack Frost!
Planning out cosplay makeup for 3D-rendered characters is always fun because there's a lot of detail and nuances of color to consider. I am a painter/illustrator, so this sort of thing wakes up that side of me and I use my face as a canvas.
What kept catching my eye in Rise of the Guardians is Jack’s skintone. It has this fascinating bluish tinge, and an overall look that makes him look like he’s kept cold by his own ice powers. It looked like a good cosplay makeup challenge so I gave it a shot.
My skin has yellow undertones typical of Asian skin, so I used light blue makeup as a base to give myself a cooler-toned, paler complexion. I did my best not to put too much, because then I might look too zombie-like.
I mixed up some eyeshadow to imitate the purplish-brown pigmentation around Jack's eyes; this made my nose bridge stand out more as well.
Using a grey eyebrow pencil, I lightly drew my eyebrows darker and thicker, following the shape of Jack's brows as I observed in the movie. I skimmed some areas with a white eyeliner pencil for a frosty look.
I dulled the color of my lips with lip concealer and brown cream pigment to follow the overall color scheme.
Lastly, I put just a little bit of pink blush mixed with brown on my nose and a little on my cheeks to get the flushed look of someone who is very cold.
I enjoyed this a lot!
Now I’ve got a date with a plate of cookies, a comfy blanket, and some holiday episodes of shows I follow. Hope you’re all enjoying your holidays! Happy Christmas to you and yours!
