A friendly desert community where the sun is hot,
the moon is beautiful,
and mysterious lights pass overhead
while we all pretend to sleep.
Welcome to Night Vale.
These are just 5 out of a 10-piece photo set. See the rest on my Tumblr! behindinfinity.tumblr.com/post…
series: Welcome to Night Vale
Jin as Cecil Palmer

We've been meaning to incorporate more establishing shots for our shoots, to give viewers a better idea of the kind of setting our characters exist in. This series presented a great opportunity for us to try it out! Welcome to Night Vale is a podcast so it's a very non-visual medium for storytelling. Yet its world has a very distinct atmosphere, and we're given very vivid mental images through their words and music. My friends and I tried to capture the setting of Night Vale as we imagined it. Included in the set are images such as: A more realistic view of the WtNV logo. The Glow Cloud hurling animal carasses on the town below. Hooded Figures which one should not approach.
Fun fact: We took all of these photos at places that are a walking distance from where I stay. So I actually live in this Night Vale, ahaha.
Also, the second anniverasry of Welcome to Night Vale is coming up very soon! June 15! How thrilling!
Since people often ask about this — Welcome to Night Vale is a dark comedy podcast about a strange desert town whose bizarre stories are told through the local community radio station. It's fantastic and you should give it a shot if you enjoy things you can't explain to your friends with mere words. You can listen to the episodes for free through your favorite podcast apps or here on Podbay from your computers.▬▬▬▬▬

This photo is very artistic and mysterious. Wow.
I didn't think of the tattoos at first but I saw it on a lot of fan art and the idea really appealed to me. (Only I don't think they are actual tattoos, and are more like symbols that just grew on his skin one day due to some prophecy or whatever else makes sense in Night Vale.) I think the tatts are a nice visual feature that makes him easily distinguishable, and works as a good contrast element to the way he's dressed.
It's going to be glorious, one I finally catch up. Guess I know how I'm sending my first dew days of summer vacation.
How'd you manage the glow cloud?
Oh, I was just lucky enough to catch the Glow Cloud passing by my neighborhood. Nah, I actually would periodically check on the sky over the span of a few days, waiting for a cloud formation that looked worthy of being the Glow Cloud. And then I had animal carcasses thrown into the air- I mean, Photoshopped the rain of dead animals.
And now I might go listen to these podcasts. Yet another fandom you and your friends have turned me on to
Night Vale is truly wonderful and unique! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
When I did my Cecil(ia, went for the genderbend because I wanted to see a nice version. It still needs work though.) I had a friend paint my arms with snazaroo... that was such a pain. I think something like the markers they use for tattoo outlines would work well, and they are decently cheap.
The work in post is not jarring by any means, it really just makes them look perfect. Such a hard balance to strike!
What a great Cecil, awesome job!
